What to expect

Timeframes and who handles your matter

All legal work at Amanah Solicitors is supervised by the Partners of the firm. Each Partner’s post-qualified experience is available from the Law Society’s Find a Solicitor service.

Law Society: Find a Solicitor
  1. ~8 weeks

    Immigration applications

To prepare and submit an application, unless the matter is urgent, e.g. an appeal. After submission, timeframes are set by the Home Office or the Tribunal.

  2. ~12 weeks

    Conveyancing

From receipt of the mortgage offer to completion, although complex cases can take longer.

The small print

  1. Fees assume there will be no additional work beyond what we expect in the course of an ordinary visa application, Tribunal appeal or property transaction.
  2. Immigration disbursements are charged separately and may be payable in advance. Home Office fees and the immigration health surcharge (IHS) vary from time to time and are published on the Home Office website.
  3. Barristers’ fees for advocacy at the Tribunal vary in each case. We will confirm them to you when available from Chambers.
  4. On a sale, the lender fee covers dealing with your lender on mortgage redemption. On a purchase, if we are not on your lender’s panel, the solicitors acting for the lender may charge a higher legal fee.
  5. Conveyancing disbursements are typically around £150 for a freehold sale, £400 for a leasehold sale and £800 for a purchase or re-mortgage. Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) and legal indemnity policies are excluded as they vary in every transaction.
  6. We do not provide tax advice. Please seek independent advice from a suitably qualified tax adviser.
